To celebrate the 2017 International Day for Biological Diversity – “Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism”, GYBN members in Madagascar have launched yesterday a the Malagasy Youth Biodiversity Network.
Convinced of the power of youth engagement to support action for sustainable biodiversity and sustainable development, and following GYBN’s example, Malagasy Youth Biodiversity Network’s ultimate goal is to spread the vision “to transform the world into one that does not experience human-induced biodiversity loss and where people live in harmony with nature”.
Sadly, this unique biodiversity sanctuary is facing a huge problem – human activities are threatening the environment and causing many species to disappear.
Aiming to strengthen the role of young people to voice and act for sustainable biodiversity and sustainable development, the Malagasy Youth Biodiversity Network will create a space where young volunteers in Madagascar can work together to pursue life in harmony with nature through sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity in Madagascar, and around the word.
As part of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, the Malagasy Youth Biodiversity Network will strengthen action in the local level to implement GYBN’s mission and objectives.
Currently, 47 inspired young malagasy officially established the Malagasy Youth Biodiversity Network!
We invite all young people in Madagascar and all around the world to join us, get active and help us transform our society, so that we can all live in harmony with nature!
